Progeny Sport Horses--where the sun breaks on a new generation. European Bloodlines with American Heart.
Philosophy
The horse is a partner and a companion. Too many times this gets lost in the process of training. After having restarted many horses and always riding the young ones I realized that I wanted to be able to give a foundation to young horses so that as they continued their careers they would not be in the position of so many others. I also think that breeders in the United States can produce quality horses; which is my goal whether they are jumpers, dressage, or hunters.
Process
The foundation mares are Holsteiner bred - smart, athletic, and brave with a bit of an attitude. The Stallions are picked by their ability to complement the mares and add a startling degree of capability. The babies are started young with basic respect and daily handling. Each of them are treated as an individual within the framework of my expectations for behavior. As young riding horses they are developed with solid groundwork, then flatwork. These horses are bred to perform - that part is easy.
Training
Guillermo and Lynn Obligado of Woodgrove farm in Rancho Sante Fe California are my US mentors and help me package my strong emphasis on flatwork having utilized the assistance of Rebecca Rigdon who had ridden for the Verband and was able to help me translate dressage to suit my needs for jumping. The same basic tenets are there. I had an opportunity to work with Greg Best, 1988 Olympian, in a clinic format multiple times per year. All of my jumping coaches have provided valuable insight into what needs to be accomplished once you get to the show ring.
Results
This is a little bit of a lengthy story so we will leave it for another day...I had goals in 2020 to enter the FEI ring but that has been postponed. I am proud of the development and sales of my small herd. Currently in 2020 I have kept Odysseus (now 9) and Ezio de Emeraud (now 5) and have Rivana's final foal, C. Horse just being started and Lola (now 2) There is additional information on sold horses HERE.
